Apple has launched a new ad for its iPad Pro and wants us to believe it’s more than a 2-in-1 device: it’s a full working computer. Now that the company has to compete with the 2-in-1 products Surface and Yoga Tab sold by Microsoft and Lenovo, the expensive iPad Pro with its keyboard and stylus has had some troubles keeping up. That’s why Apple has decided to go for it and state very clearly that its tablets are way more than just a large smartphone: there are practically computers. The key to technology today is versatility, and the iPad Pro offers it all: you can type on a keyboard, or discharge it and use your fingers to type directly on the screen. You can also use the Apple Pencil to draw on it, point, click, and everything you can do with a computer!
Forget that both iPad Pro models, the 12.9-inch and the 9.7-inch ones run a standard version of iOS: Apple wants to turn this very fact into its main strength. Therefore, Apple has decided to show us the full range of possibilities that we get when buying its tablet, and that are not available if we opt for a more desktop-like operating system.
Apple wants to use iOS as its main selling point
Since nowadays there are several 2-in-1 devices with the same selling points as the Apple iPad Pro, the Cupertino company has to do something to stand out. That’s why they have decided to use its own operating system as the main selling point: you get the same capabilities and abilities that you have on an iPhone with the power and usability of a computer. If you have seen the ad, did they convince you?
It’s clear that the iPad Pro is a great device for gaming, browsing, watching Netflix or even drawing, but it still lags behind other devices when it comes to editing. What do you think?
